      Bridgerton, Season I

A True Love Story in Royalty

      Dear Readers,

The popular Netflix Show, "Bridgerton", has taken the world by storm ever since it hit tv screens on the Christmas holiday of December 25th, 2020. I can remember where I was, and what time I began watching it. It was a Christmas present to the world, when the life-changing pandemic was taking place.

What initially caught my eye about the show was that diversity was proudly displayed with our two leads, Daphne and Simon, (Phoebe Dynevor and Rege-Jean Page). A detail that stood ground on love and devotion, with a sprinkle of royalty. Just a dash. What kept me hooked was the undeniable chemistry between Daphne and the Duke! It truly was something out of a fairy tale.

Let me just say, I am a true Rom-Com fan.
I mean, who doesn't love a little love, laughter, and joy?

As I went on to watch the season, the acting alone was just perfect. It gave you one of those "feel good" feelings that you'd get watching a 90's rom-com movie. When things just felt easy. A summer day, things of that nature. It's just that things don't quite feel like that anymore. Even with movies that come out nowadays, or even TV shows, cinema has just changed. So to see this come out, a brand new story. A new, interesting concept. It was a breath of fresh air.

The Bridgerton family and the Ton were the additions that made everything that much better. You can't have the Princess story without the village. A modern-day fairytale. We hadn't seen anything like it since a cartoon or two back in the day. Of course, now we have Wicked, which I absolutely LOVED. That is a story for another time.

Courtmanship was the key factor in the display for me as well. The level of respect and care that the pair showed for one another, though they had their normal faults, was just admirable. Courting may not be as common as it was back then, but to see that onscreen was very refreshing. We watched the pair fall in love over the season, it was heartwarming to see. I enjoyed the wit, carefreeness, and fun of it. I truly cannot think of another show like this. I have yet to see it. To go on, you felt a good connection to every character that came onscreen. Eloise Bridgerton, played by Claudia Jessie, was another favorite for me. Her stance as a young, independent and intelligent woman during a time period that relied on a woman's devotion to a man, was so inspirational. It's like, you always need one of those characters.

This specific season has now been added to my "Comfort Show" list.
It was perfect, from start to finish. I believe, it's time to watch it again!
