Visibility online has become a vast concept in this developing digital age. If you are in the process of building online, the act of showing your presence is a factor in creating the necessary environment that you need. We have seen overtime how a "media presence" can relay different signals in regards to what your interests are, what you stand for, or what your bringing to the forefront. The great thing about it is the material of it will continue to change overtime!
The First Encounter - A Shift
When you start an online entity, things can become chaotic pretty quickly.
You are expected to have a sure foundation, stability in your mission, and a set routine. In this day and age, that can mean a lot of things for many reasons. The First Encounter can bring pressure as everyone is online now. Mainly for the entertainment, but also as a source of guidance in a sort.
In the experience of working through this idea, it can be pretty intimidating but a way of relieving that pressure is evaluating the environment that is already present.
How will you contribute? What lane or category do you fit in?
How will this come across to the users online?
If you are bringing something different or expressing a new idea, doing the necessary research and becoming confident in your work is a key point in staying clear in the first encounter.
A Take In Journalism
The idea of Journalism is a fairly old fashioned form of media production.
It began with oral communication and physical messengers relaying the daily news to society, later evolving into the Printing Press and Early Newspapers to digital forms of media. Overtime, this evolution of receiving and sharing information became a form of reliable connection in the world!
When it comes to visibility, widespread attention was a key element in helping members of society stay informed in how the world operates. With this idea, many things come with it such as forms of opinion, different beliefs, and leadership aspects to shape how we learn to operate throughout the world. When one topic is shared with a diverse mass of individuals, a chain of connection is already started - creating a sense of relatibility with persons that you have never met before. It's honestly a pretty impressive thing to think about! How has this applied to digital media today?
Everything that we do now is online in some form. With the enhanced production of content, there are many ideas and subjects to share insight on. The matter of right or wrong isn't the end goal or takeaway but just creating some form of entertainment and continuing to explore how we enjoy these media forms. In my experience of journalism, it is not as commonly produced as it once was. With attention spans shortening and certain economic developments taking place, the act of reading long form content is not applicable to the modern media viewpoint. Opinions are shared but occasionally respected. With that, visibility is not the main goal in sharing. Informing is the latter and recieving or consumption is the full circle moment.
A Few Takeaways
When it comes to entering the Visibility phase in your journey, a great thing to remember is you set the standard for how you show up. Whether you have it all figured out or are simply taking it one step at a time, showing up is one of the best things that you can do to stay steady in your path!
If you are trying something new or not the most popular in a sense, staying true to intention and your why are a moving factors that aid in keeping your progress going.
It also helps to share feedback with a friend! Bouncing ideas off one another can not only help you when things become a bit weary but it can spark new inspiration for future ideas to come.
