On a Saturday afternoon, the time for relaxation from the busy days of the week is a time to not be taken for granted. Recently, I enjoyed watching the movie, Jurassic World: Rebirth, and became inspired to explore the interesting creatures in a bit more detail.
The Modern Dinosaur
Even though dinosaurs are a prehistoric concept, the thought of them still provide an encapturing thrill that excites us to this day. The Jurassic franchise has shown throughout the years how the same idea of humans interacting with these enormous animals have always kept us in amazement. Not only the fact that the species ever roamed the Earth, but that we never made contact with them before their extinction.
The dinosaurs were around many years ago, yet they never feel outdated. Onscreen, the scale still shocks, sound builds tension, and CGI constantly evolves! The combination of these features have reeled me in as a true fan of all things science fiction. The technology allows the film industry to potray the vast animals in realism and dramatization derived from the family tree of these fossils. The Modern Dinosaur is now our everyday alligator, lizard, or even a parrot. For size factor, an elephant may be the closest thing to what we will see in the lifetime. Not only have the animations touched in the great franchise, but surrounding themes have had the same "Wow!" factor that sci-fi movies give us. I am amazed at how this continues to grow as time goes on!
A Soaring Silhouette
There are over 11,000 known dinosaur species that have been discovered of all different sizes and shapes. A few of those species stick out the most to me in regards to the silhouette. The outer layer of these animals gave them a sturdy shell of a coat that protected them from weather conditions, other animals, and was ultimately fashionable for the time!
Mosasaurus
The Mosasaurus was an aquatic lizard that has a snakelike body and long snout. This structure resembled the lizard of today in which is part of the family tree. The long tail of the lizard can equate to that of a trailing cape jacket. Structured, texturized, and telling a story, the form of the jacket is a model of strength and precision. As the mosasaurus wades along in the water, the modern man glides through the air. The trail of capery flows as if it is moving through the very same region that the animal may have dwelled many years ago!
Titanosaurus
Sone of the largest terrestrial animals known were that of the Titanosaur. They were most known for their long necks and small heads, supporting a stockier body build that allowed them to slowly move along the grounds of earlier times. The elongated neck of the animal can compare to a pop collared jacket, material differing from leather to denim. The speed of the Titanosaur gave the indication that it thoroughly enjoyed its daily life, the length of the neckbone allowing it to oversee the grounds from an elevated view. The pop of a collared jacket gives the relaxed and elevated tone of a modest millenial sure in style. The neck is hidden and head size shortened to that of the smaller head shape in the Titanosaurus family.
Though fashion was the last thing in mind of these animals, the scale and look of their different shells certainly stood out among the deserted landscapes of that time! From shades of color to different patterns, the 'Saurus Silhouettes were a memorable standout for their time.
A Seat in The Theater
From the first movie to most recent release, I will always be a major supporter of the Jurassic World series! Whether it is the anticipation of seeing the first creature reveal or a classic nod to previous films, there is excitement in every moment. A great thing about such action packed watches is the initial shock factor won't leave you too scared to continue watching. Every theater visit included a few younger ones ecstatic about seeing the creatures appear on the screen. The most enticing aspect of each movie is the development of the visuals in real time. We were able to witness the first dinosaur that began the journey of Jurrasic Park, it gave the emotions a whirlwind of thrill. To the last, that was not only a sight to see - but a new look for the animals overall. The idea of morphing two species and mutation escalated overtime and kept the plot that much more interesting. The sight of new predators that had never graced the Earth could only be seen onscreen! The thought of the new discoveries is a keen sight for sore eyes in the name of all things science fiction.
Not everything that we love or enjoy has to fit into an aesthetic! Some things are simply just awe. For me, Dinosaurs have always been one of them. I am excited to stay in tune with viewings alongside these prehistoric creatures. As time goes on and the days of the vast animals roaming the Earth grow further away, the appreciation for them are shown in our modern day films and good reads.
