The Language of Spring

A Development Application

The season of Spring is almost here! For the ladies that means wardrobe becomes lighter, flowers growing into full bloom, and it is almost time to prepare the young ones for the Easter holiday.

With the bright days ahead, there are many occasions to prepare for and styles to equip with in light of the events.

In the dress department, we recently had a training on strengthening our communication in our role. To replace a bit of the vague language with more precision. Not only did it open my eyes to my verbage in my position, but also in my daily routine. It made me realize that fashion fluency is a development.

The Language

The idea of developing fashion language is focused in precision. Similar to how you choose an outfit to run your weekend errands or attend an evening outing with friends, you are focusing on the details of the outfit! In the retail sense, occasions are a bit more in depth so the fitting room experience would reflect that story!

During the bridal and formal seasons, the conversation can tend to be emotional. The ladies are wanting strong clarity over approval. The terms "Cute , nice" may not describe the structure or silhouette of a dress as much as "The embroidery compliments your skin tone". While I learned that after a few interactions, it really helped improve how I handle customers in the future! You ultimately get to design the experience to each situation, all while improving your fashion sense as the time goes by.

Fashion & Beyond

Setting your sights on developing a deeper conversation can train multiple things at once! Those are observing the garment, articulating your words, and overall confidence in your own opinion. As the comfort comes with the process, it will become first nature. Personally, I did not attend college or a university so that may be a helpful reminder for me at times. An addition of these practices to the daily routine is a great way to actively practice that development.

Spring 2026 - The Season of Intentional Language

This Spring, we are set on being more intentional! Whether that includes more fun, getting work done, or heading to the gym - it is a great time to spend the days on a lighter note. The season is not only for lighter clothes or pastel colors, it can stand for lighter speech. It is refined, specific, and enjoyable.

Recently, I started learning the French language. This has been helpful in connection to developing the vocabulary in a workplace setting! Similar to studying a new language, you focus on the noun or a new aspect of a word than what you may have learned with your native language. Fashion fluency is the same concept, only you get to practice your studies in real time!

Learning to develop your Spring Vocabulary is a thoughtful experience! There is no set timeframe for it or guideline for how it should be done. The freespace for your creativity to flourish is a benefit of getting into the practice!
