The way that people interact with the current world is becoming more and more selective. Not in the sense of less engagement, but more in intentionality. Modern users of today are shifting from passive consumption and fast speeds to intentional, taste-driven, multi-dimensional living. The idea of alignment is touching every aspect of routine! With these factors that are constantly changing, the new way of interaction digitally manuevers in a swift fashion.
Selection & Behavioral Shifts
As the days go on, the purpose of a filter applies to many ideas. From the decision of grocery options to the book choice of your daily reading, more meaningful inputs have become the pivotal foreground of what is chosen for consumption. Users are no longer accepting default experiences, they are curating their own. This can go past the matter of an algorithm that becomes customized to your everyday usage or content.
It can bring the question up of; What does this mean for now? It really doesn't change much of anything.
As technology continues to develop, AI enhances to guide the digital world into the next phase, we just simply adapt. Continue to curate our own experiences just as much as they will become accustomed to on their own. Default experiences can feel generic or less personable to our preferences. So, the filtering of what we're shown will not only decrease the timing of content search but ultimately serve a better user experience for everyone!
Living Beyond The Scroll - A Reality Sense
When the warmer days roll in, a sudden boost of energy jolts through to get you going! The normal routine can increase, decrease, or balance out that feeling. For some of us, our daily tasks involve using our phone or any device that has a screen. While it's become the normal for this day in age, it can become addicting. A phrase that my friend always used to tell me is to "Go touch some grass!". As we get older, I am beginning to learn more and more everyday why that is so important.
"Life is happening outside of your screen, Don't miss out on it!"
Hues, Hot Weather & Hobbies
As an adult, making the time and effort for hobbies or activities can be a challenge. Nowadays, if things aren't contributing to your career or finances, they just aren't too much of a focus. When times arise of the bills beginning to stack up, the time for self-care tends to decrease pretty quickly. Personally, I do the majority of my work on a computer screen from home. Long hours of typing away with your eyes glued to the screen may feel like there isn't too much time in the day to get your other tasks done. A counter act could be entertainment from your cell phone. There are many apps out there that keep you informed of things going on in the world and provide your favorite kinds of content! To decompress from these activities, making time to create fulfilling memories outside of your phone can help with energy and things of that nature.
Welcoming Taste & Interdisciplinary Living
Similar to aging throughout the days, your personal style tends to change or develop on their own. Your taste palette begins to have a interest for new things when it comes to experiences, hobbies, passions, and even foods from different areas!
As this happens, taste becomes a filter system - personal interface for decision making and blending of interests. Social apps have always been a form of entertainment with many different types of content at our fingertips. It is our one-stop shop in the window of everything that's going on in the world. Not only do we stay up to date with need to know information, but it fuels our minds to what is possible! Sometimes, when you see it happening it gives you hope that you can make it happen for yourself. That whole notion has developed through the many cycles of digital change and maintained the theme of awareness and relevancy in our own personal lives. This may be where Interdisciplinary Living comes into play.
People are beginning to design multi-layered personal systems, not just single-track identities. The way of categorization is a older theme and the users are no longer confined to one identity. While this isn't a completely new idea, it hasn't always been as amplified as it is today. This is a new age integration that is reminiscent of the modern generation. Interests are blending, creativity and lifestyle overlap into a mix of fruitful identity. The confinement is shedding before our eyes. This aligned with the rapid change of technology is the recipe for how we can adapt comfortably, if there is any kind of comfort in such stimulating change. It just calls for expansion!
Quiet Confidence
With all of this thrilling information that is available every day, it is a great thing to remember that exposure in limits can keep you steady and able to digest or adjust. There may be less of a need for constant visibility and media consumption and more comfort in selective presence. When things are moving at a rapid pace, one of the best things to do is slow down.
For creators this can look like more intentional posts that cater to these ideas. For users it could align with the type of content that is engaged with, it is a stillness for everyone. This can encourage a confidence in how we use our phones! It is reflected in how little needs to be expressed. This can mold a fulfilling digital experience for everything that we see from day to day.
A More Intentional System
The shift towards selective living reflects a broader change in how people design their lives.
Rather than reacting to constant input, today's users are beginning to define their own systems - shaped by taste, curiosity, and intention.
